House of Quiet Light

A single-family house organized around a central light court. The brief asked for privacy from the street and openness to the sky.

The plan resolves around a square courtyard that admits north light into every room. Solid walls face the street; the inside opens to itself.

Materials are deliberately few: lime-plastered brick, polished concrete floors, and Burma teak frames. Nothing is finished that would obscure the structure.

The courtyard is the engine of the house — it ventilates passively in summer, captures monsoon rain into a recharge well, and admits the only true sun the bedrooms see.
